Happy New Year & Happy New Life

This photo I've posted was taken a year ago in Greenwich Village, NYC. My husband and I were on an amazing, inspiring trip to New York for our honeymoon. Though we swear we'll be going back soon, other priorities have come up this year.

2012 is going to be an exciting year for me and my little family. My daughter, Elora, is almost 4 months old, and has so many little milestones to conquer this year. My husband is settling into fatherhood and a new job with optimism. I have just started an online shop with Etsy with the intention to sell jewellery first off and eventually other items I have up my sleeve. The purpose of this blog is to document and share my adventures in entrepreneurship, motherhood, and finding the place in which both my passions--contemporary dance and Montessori teaching--have in my new life.

It's a time of newness, uncertainty, interest and risk in some ways.

So, as I'm re-investigating Montessori's writings, here's a quote that applies personally to me:

It is the child who makes the man, and no man exists who was not made by the child he once was.
-- Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind

As a child, I remember being hopeful, propelled by creative thoughts and expression, and having a general feeling of excitement about the future. These must be some of the traits that make me the person I am today. In some ways it's been too long since I've allowed these motivators rise to the surface.
